COMPLETED July 2011

The premise behind the project was the complete removal and replacement of the four passenger elevators along with the one fright elevator; this entailed cars, cabs, motors, controllers, and calls.

COMPLETED April 2012

This project included revising common spaces with a focus on first-floor lounges, corridors and the Sparty’s convenience store to enhance study spaces, project areas and flexible meeting spaces.

The project will include renovations of the Big Ten rooms, other meeting rooms, break-out space, and related corridors and areas.

The Culinary Management Education Laboratory is located on the garden level of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The existing facility was 18 years old and approximately 10,000 square feet. The School of Hospitality Business was in need of state-of-the-art teaching and production laboratories and a demonstration theater/classroom to remain competitive in the world of hospitality education.

This project is planned to focus on the first-floor lobby and public spaces that currently experience the highest user traffic. It is anticipated to include renovation of the first-floor concourse, main lounge, Union Central Store, post office and One Union Square Food Court.

MSU owns more than 4,500,000 volumes and 33,000 publications, along with maps, recordings and other resources. The Main Library houses many items that, due to their age, require specific temperature and humidity criteria be met to sustain preservation. It was discovered during a maintenance inspection that the significant components of the chillers that help maintain the building's temperature had reached the end of their service life and need to be replaced.
