The Culinary Management Education Laboratory is located on the garden level of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The existing facility was 18 years old and approximately 10,000 square feet. The School of Hospitality Business was in need of state-of-the-art teaching and production laboratories and a demonstration theater/classroom to remain competitive in the world of hospitality education.

MSU owns more than 4,500,000 volumes and 33,000 publications, along with maps, recordings and other resources. The Main Library houses many items that, due to their age, require specific temperature and humidity criteria be met to sustain preservation. It was discovered during a maintenance inspection that the significant components of the chillers that help maintain the building's temperature had reached the end of their service life and need to be replaced.
