Description: Crescent Road and Middlevale Road are located in the Residential District, south of Service Road and west of Harrison Road. This is the last of five phases to rebuild the roads in Spartan Village. The roads were constructed more than 40 years ago and have long since outlived their useful lives. Pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle safety issues need to be addressed, and the water line capacity needs to be enhanced in this area. Road configurations will match previously rebuilt sections to improve traffic safety while providing more bike lanes.
The project involves:
- The conversion of Crescent Road to three vehicle lanes (one in each direction and one center turn lane) and two bike lanes;
- The construction of a new pedestrian walkway, located adjacent to Harrison Road between both Crescent Road intersections to Spartan Village;
- The replacement of broken sidewalks along the roads;
- The installation of a new water line, parallel to the road and connecting to lines constructed in previous phases, which will increase capacity to improve fire fighting ability.
Pedestrian, bicyclist, motorist impacts: From May 18 through July 31, the southernmost entrance to Spartan Village will be closed to motorists.
Timeline: Construction began in May 2009, was substantially completed by July 2009, and reached final completion in March 2010.
