Description: The Food Stores Building is located on south side of Service Road, east of the Angell Building in the Service District. The project involved the replacement of the insulating panels with new panels that include 20 percent better insulation value and the replacement of freezer equipment with new high-efficiency energy-saving equipment. Security and access control was enhanced within the building and also replace the current HVAC system in the office area of the building. The new efficient equipment will allow for better zone-level control, improved ventilation, and an expected decrease in overall building energy use.
Timeline: Construction began in December 2009 and was substantially complete in August 2010, with final completion in August 2011.
