Description: The 2011 Harrison Road project includes the reconstruction of the roadway from Trowbridge Road to Shaw Lane, located on the west side of Michigan State University's campus. The completed road surface will continue to have the same lane configuration as the currently existing roadway.
Reconstruction will include:
- Intermittent curb and drive approach replacement
- Sidewalk and sidewalk ramp improvements
- Minor storm sewer and sanitary sewer replacement
- New paved asphalt surface
- Replacement of existing 6-inch and 10-inch water mains with new 16-inch water main with related valves and fire hydrants
Timeline: The project began on June 7 and was completed by Aug. 20.
Impacts to pedestrians, bikers, motorists: During construction, Harrison Road will be completely closed to traffic from Trowbridge Road to Shaw Lane. Sever Drive, Wilson Road and Lilac Avenue will also be closed at Harrison Road. Traffic detours will be in effect and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
