Description: Phase I of the Mt. Hope Road Reconstruction Project is currently ahead of schedule. Mt. Hope Road is closed between Harrison Road and the west end of Michigan State University Commuter Parking Lot 89 (1,500 feet west of Farm Lane). The half-mile section of Mt. Hope Road will remain closed for approximately two weeks while the road surface is pulverized, graded, paved and re-striped. Traffic will be detoured south on Harrison Road and Farm Lane Road to Forest Road.
At the completion of the Phase I closure, traffic on Mt. Hope Road will be opened to one lane in each direction to facilitate construction of Phase II and III. Phase II will commence immediately following the completion of Phase I and include the north half of Mt. Hope Road from Harrison Road to US-127. Phase III will include the south half of Mt. Hope Road from Harrison Road to US-127. Drivers on Mt. Hope Road should watch for traffic shifts near US-127 and east of Harrison Road during this time.
Also starting the beginning of August, Harrison Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Mt. Hope Road to facilitate the reconstruction of the intersection during the various phases of the project. Drivers on Harrison Road should watch for traffic shifts on both the north and south sides of the intersection.
Since the intersection of Mt. Hope Road and Harrison Road will be reduced to one lane in all directions from the beginning of August to the end of September, drivers are encouraged to avoid this area especially during morning and afternoon rush-hour periods.
