Description: Old College Field is located north of Jenison Field House in the Athletic and Recreation District. This project involved improving the 2,500-seat grandstand and press box for baseball. Site amenities will include brick columns and fascia, and ornamental iron fencing — all matching the complex design palette established in Phases I and II. Also included were site demolition and electrical work.
Intercollegiate Athletics wishes to update and improve the baseball, softball, and soccer facilities to create a unified collegiate complex intended to heighten the athletic experience for players, coaches and visitors. In June 2006, the MSU Board of Trustees authorized planning for the Old College Field Master Plan, which included reorientation of the athletic fields and several other phased components. The Board approved Phase I - Hitting Facility in May 2007 and Phase II - Athletic Fields in April 2008.
Timeline: Construction began in September 2008 and will be substantially complete by August 2009, with final completion by April 2010.
