Description: The steam and condensate return lines that service Spartan Stadium and Central Services are deteriorating. These improvements will increase the reliability of the steam service, which provides building heat and hot water. This project involves replacing the deteriorated direct-buried steam and condensate return services with a new tunnel to Spartan Stadium and new direct-buried steam service to Central Services.
The steam tunnel is located at the southeast corner of Spartan Stadium and south of Central Services, just north of Shaw Lane in the athletic and recreation district.
Timeline: Construction began in March 2011, with substantial completion in August 2011, and final completion in September 2012.
